The PMC Prophecy 1 is a masterclass in compact engineering, designed to bring studio-grade precision into the home. Despite its slim profile, it delivers a scale of sound typically reserved for much larger cabinets. This is achieved through PMC’s legendary Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) technology, now enhanced by the patent-protected LaminairX airflow system, which reduces turbulence to ensure taut, rhythmic, and distortion-free bass.

Critics have been quick to praise its performance. What Hi-Fi? awarded it a full five stars, noting its "class-leading clarity and precision," while AVForums highlighted its "superb bass extension and control" for such a slender design. The 27mm soft dome tweeter and 125mm mineral cone mid-bass driver work in perfect harmony, offering an open, natural midrange that makes vocals feel remarkably lifelike.

At HiFiSound, we have the PMC Prophecy 1 on permanent demo in Stockton, allowing you to experience them in person. To help you upgrade, we offer a competitive trade-in scheme for your current speakers, making it easier than ever to bring this British-built excellence home. Every pair also comes with a staggering 20-year warranty, ensuring a lifetime of high-fidelity enjoyment.

Key Features:

  • Slim real wood veneered cabinets (Mediterranean Oak, Natural Walnut, or Blackened Walnut)
  • Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) with LaminairX
  • HF (Tweeter): A 27mm soft dome
  • LF (Mid/Bass): 125mm (5-inch) mineral-loaded cone

the-ear.net - January 2026

"The prophecy1 does this while making sure that the lineage all the way back to the Fb1 is readily identifiable. It is every inch a PMC, simply one that takes the long held abilities and hones and refines them further without costing the end user more. It’s a pleasure to use and live with and has to be seen as one of the very finest speakers available at the price point." Read the full review.

HiFi Pig

"The prophecy1 is very much in the PMC tradition of loudspeakers. It’s designed to have all the same sonic characteristics as their commercially made studio monitors. Although I haven’t been able to make a side-by-side comparison, they exhibit all the hallmarks of a good studio monitor.

The element I must single out most for praise is the low-end performance for such a small cabinet. Achieving a decent heft and depth in the bass of a standmount invariably comes with compromises to accuracy and detail. The prophecy1 does an excellent job of balancing the constraints here. Bass textures aren’t blurred out, and the bass still has plenty of presence in my room." Read the full review.
