The PhoenixUSB Reclocker is a high-precision USB signal regenerator designed to enhance the performance of your digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It takes the USB audio signal from any source and completely regenerates it, ensuring your DAC receives an extremely clean and accurate signal.
In one compact unit, the PhoenixUSB replaces three separate components: a USB regenerator, a linear power supply, and an external master clock (each with its own dedicated linear power supply).
Drawing on their experience with the flagship Innuos STATEMENT music server, Innuos implemented three key design principles:
1. Advanced USB Chip Power Regulation
The USB chip, which regenerates the signal, is free of any internal switching regulators. Instead, it is powered by three independent voltages from a dedicated linear power supply, with further regulation provided by three sets of LT3045 regulators.
2. Direct-Connected OCXO Clock
A high-precision 3ppb OCXO (Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator) clock, running at 24MHz, is connected directly to the USB chip. This short, two-inch connection eliminates the signal degradation that can occur with cables and connectors, unlike external 10MHz master clocks that require a separate 24MHz clock generator.
3. Dual Linear Power Supplies
The unit features two independent, STATEMENT-level linear power supplies. One is dedicated solely to the OCXO clock, while the other powers the USB chip and the 5V USB output line, ensuring each component receives clean, stable power.
