The Michell Gyro has been in continuous development since its introduction in the early 1980s. Its journey has been defined by meticulous, incremental refinements, always aimed at maximising performance while strictly adhering to the original design ethos. This commitment has made its aesthetic iconic and its sonic quality legendary within high-end analogue playback.
This latest model represents the most dramatic step in that evolution. It is not a reinvention, but a comprehensive engineering overhaul that reimagines the internal architecture. This ground-up approach delivers significant leaps in performance, operational ease, and long-term reliability. The signature Gyro look remains, yet a closer examination and critical listening will confirm the scale of this truly new machine.
Key Features:
- Solid 19mm aerospace-grade aluminium chassis with integrated brass counterweights
- AI-modelled vibration control and structural optimisation
- Precision tonearm coupling replaces Delrin spacers
- Re-tuned suspension with 3.5Hz frequency and EquilibriaTM lateral damping
- Aluminium baseplate replaces acrylic Spider frame
- Large SorbothaneTM isolation feet
- Smoother platter edge – belt groove removed for sleeker aesthetics
- Motor pod and PSU redesigned with shielding, grounding, and electronic speed control
- Inverted bearing now features double-helix oil pumping for 2× lubrication flow
First released in 1978 and recipient of the prestigious (at the time) Design and Engineering Award at the Chicago CES in both 1978 and 1981. The new Dynavector 10X5 MKII MC cartridge presents a new benchmark in High Output MC cartridge performance not requiring a step-up device or MC phono preamplifier.
DV-10X5-MK-IIThe D–502 Hybrid's sound quality is extremely detailed without any metallic character.
The D–502 Hybrid is equipped with a centre steel wire to provide extra mechanical reinforcement and strain relief. This coated steel wire, can be soldered and used as an extra ground-lead. The total pulling force handling of just this centre wire is already more than 30 kg.
