Cork 'N Rubber Turntable Mat
Mats matter - During the past 20 years the quality of record players and vinyl records have improved dramatically. Acoustic feedback is one of the big problems when playing records. The cause is the sound that has just been produced by the speakers which comes back to the record player and cause it to vibrate. The problems is that there is a very slight time difference between the reproduced sound and the sound that is fed back onto the record player. This results in a big loss of detail and clarity and makes the sound “muddy”. So every effort has to be done to isolate the record player from its surroundings as well as to isolate the record from the record player.
Cork & Rubber-IT Turntable Mat
Isolating the critical parts of your turntable is vitally important when trying to achieve true audiophile quality vinyl playback. A key step in this, which is often overlooked, is isolating the actual vinyl record from the turntable platter. Quality cartridges are extremely sensitive, and can easily detect interactions between your record and an imperfect platter surface. Key Features: Upgrade platter mat with improved sound characteristics Ideal replacement for felt mats Well-suited to metal platters, thanks to its enhanced damping properties Improves timing of audio performance Avoids static build up often associated with felt mats
Non-static platter mat consisting of fine granules (cork). Made to effectively suppress the typical resonance generated in vinyl records during playback as well as to provide a silent foundation.
This is a Cork mat designed to fit all Pro-Ject series turntables, except Debut II and III models (the Debut Carbon and Debut S/E 3 are compatible). The use of Cork gives the mat special sonic qualities, well-suited to certain deck/cartridge combinations, and also different room-types. A very cost effective way to improve the sound and have less noise by static and dust.

The use of a felt mat helps ensure a smooth interface between your vinyl record and the turntable platter. As well as offering protection, Pro-Ject felt mats are designed to resist slip, so the audio performance does not suffer in use. On top of felt mats, Pro-Ject Audio Systems also make a cork mat and a leather mat, which offer an upgraded performance compared to the felt designs.
